"The Battle of Saratoga" -
The turning Point of the American Revolution - ended
in Schuylerville New York with the surrender of the British
forces on October 17th, 1777. It was "Old Saratoga's"
strategic position on the
Hudson River, the most
important trade route of its day, that brought the
British to town. The river also brought
great agricultural and industrial riches that followed
in the ensuing years.
Today, Schuylerville is a busy center for
heritage
tourism, a focal point for recreation on the beautiful
upper Hudson, and an enclave for
small businesses,
artists, and restaurateurs from the Greater
Saratoga/Adirondack Region....
